Trying2Parent
We are Amanda & Shawn King, hosts of Trying 2 Parent Podcast, & NO we are NOT pregnant JUST YET but we wanted to invite you guys to join us on our adventure as we move out of the country #Mexico, simplify our life’s, have one if not two babies with dual citizenship, & raise our kids to be global citizens. Join us as we explain how over the past year we’ve been trying to get pregnant. We’ll share with you guys the ups the downs, the good, the bad and everything in between because to be honest things haven’t been easy for us, they haven’t been smooth and they definitely haven’t gone as planned. But…. We believe raising a family takes a Tribe. We want to share this journey with y’all because we know much like our story this process of becoming a parent isn’t easy for everyone. So we want the advice from our friends and family who have done it correctly before us. Plus the usual tips and tricks on how not to F!ck things up. And by “things” I mean our kids. To be honest we don’t know exactly what we’re doing which is why we’re asking you to join us as we learn first hand. That starts with trying to convince which we’re pretty good at, and ends with our kids most likely putting us in a home. This will be brutally honest, quite descriptive, & full of attempts at poorly timed humor mostly by Amanda because she’s not the funniest person around. We will be taking listener questions that we are likely... Actually certainly unqualified to answer. But never the less, feel free to send any and all questions over to us @ trying2parentpodcast@gmail.com or on our Facebook at Trying2Parent. If you want to be featured on the show feel free to text in or call and leave a voicemail at (360)-450-5008 This is the start of our new story. We hope you join us for the long ride 🚘🌎 This is the Trying 2 Parent Podcast Let The Games Begin…

What's up everyone welcome back to the Trying 2 Parent Podcast! This is Episode 52, and things are getting festive—Christmas vibes are slowly creeping in with decorations lighting up the neighborhood.
Business-wise, it’s an odd time; everyone’s keen on coverage but with that classic "I'll sort it out next year" attitude. But hey, priorities, right?
We had a meeting with our infinite banking specialist, and soon, our policy will be good to go. On the furry friend front, Nina’s had her blood work done for a teeth cleaning and got herself a massive new tennis ball—it has a squeaker?
In sports news, we caught some nail-bitingly close college football games—sorry, Oregon and Amanda!
Now, onto the big news: Amanda's hitting 35 weeks, and Keanu's making his way into the world. Oh yeah our baby's name is Keanu Mikael King. Baby stuff is flowing in—we ordered a bunch more essentials.
However, Amanda had a serious Charlie horse snag this morning. Which I know definitely sucked
We’re diving into some controversial waters with circumcision discussions—definitely a heated topic!
Meeting up with other expecting expats for a little parenting pow-wow—that's always a good time to build a community.
Baby update time at week 35:
Highs: Excited about making new friends and delving deeper into the infinite banking concept. Setting up our family for generations? That's the goal!
Lows: A string of ghosted appointments this week—people being people.
In the news, we’re tackling the topic of water breaking—let’s talk about the unexpected.
And, as always, it's '90s trivia time:
First web browser in 1990? World Wide Web.
Highest-grossing '90s film? Titanic, making us all weep.
First commercial text message? "Merry Christmas" spreading the holiday cheer in 1992.
First web-based email service? Hotmail—revolutionary for its time!

T2P Episode 51: Third Times A Charm
Monday Nov 27, 2023
Monday Nov 27, 2023
What's up everyone, welcome back to the Trying 2 Parent Podcast! Episode 51, and guess what? We're on the baby countdown—just six weeks left! Can you believe it?
Thanksgiving came and went, and let me tell you, experiencing it in a country where it's not celebrated is a trip! Work’s been keeping us on our toes too, which, honestly, is a good distraction amidst the baby anticipation.
So, diving into the big stuff: Amanda's now at 34 weeks, and wow, it’s hitting us hard. The changing table we ordered arrived, and that leads us to the next big question: Do we need a special trash can to avoid our room smelling like ish?
Speaking of which, there's this whole thing about brand new baby ish not smelling until you introduce formula. Can that be real? I'm skeptical, that sh!ts gotta stink, right?
Our recent checkup was great! Our little dude’s kicking himself in the face, which is a promising sign lol.
Still no visuals of little man though, so it seems like he's preparing for a grand entrance. We met with a potential new doula, and bonus, discovered an amazing French pastry place! It's the little things that keep this baby journey exciting ha
Now, onto the baby updates:
Highs: Thanksgiving with friends was fantastic, and getting a guy's policy approved was a real win.
Low: Amanda tweaked her back, which wasn't fun at all.
In the news, we’re exploring postpartum traditions from around the world. It’s fascinating to see how different cultures handle this significant phase.
And, of course, it's '90s trivia time:
First team to win three Super Bowls? Steelers for the win!
First QB to throw for 5,000 yards in a season? The legendary Dan Marino.
Youngest QB to throw for 50 TDs in a season? Patrick Mahomes.
And the winners of the last three Super Bowls? KC, Rams, and the Bucs taking home the trophy!
Stay tuned for more baby countdown excitement and throwback trivia next time on Trying 2 Parent!

T2P Episode 50: Doula Said Shut Yo Mouth
Monday Nov 20, 2023
Monday Nov 20, 2023
Hey everyone, welcome back to the Trying 2 Parent Podcast! Episode 50 is packed with updates, laughs, and some serious financial chat. So, what's been going on this week?
First off, Ellie's gone home, so no more crazy dog noises interrupting our everyday. Also, huge shoutout to Oregon for a killer win against ASU in football!
On the home front, we're knee-deep in holiday spirit - Christmas decorations are up! And just a heads-up, Thanksgiving's right around the corner which we just realized. Time flies when life gets busy!
Now, let’s dive into some major news: we've accepted an offer on our land, leading to an exciting financial move. We're talking about investing a significant chunk into an annuity and starting our own bank through some savvy policies. Look, I get it—money talks might not be everyone's cup of tea, but we’re passionate about sharing what we're doing to build a secure future. The power of continuous compounding interest is no joke, folks!
Financial strategy aside, Amanda’s at 33 weeks now, and that's a significant number for us! We've been prepping for the baby's arrival with a hospital tour and our second Lamaze class. The doula had some interesting insights about our doctor. Fingers crossed for a sneak peek at our son during our next appointment on Tuesday!
Now, diving into the baby update: at week 33, Lamaze classes have been a high point for us, but on a more serious note, had a conversation this week that really hit home about someone's tough health situation.
In the news, we’re exploring the use of red raspberry tea in the third trimester—always fascinating to delve into these natural remedies.
And of course, it wouldn’t be our podcast without a bit of nostalgia. How about some '90s trivia? From "Angel" being a spin-off of Buffy to pinpointing the release years of South Park and Family Guy—it's all about the pop culture throwbacks.
Stay tuned for more adventures and insights next time on Trying 2 Parent!

T2P Episode 49: Lamazzzeee Time Plus Our Doula’s Redemption
Monday Nov 13, 2023
Monday Nov 13, 2023
Hey friends welcome back, sorry we missed a week but we're back with another episode of the Podcast.
We've got quite the update for you this week. It's been a whirlwind of events, so buckle up.
First things first, we're watching this dog, and let's just say she's no Nina Sanchez
Work is always evolving, and we're switching some things up. Change can be exciting, so we're looking forward to seeing how these adjustments play out.
On a lighter note, Amanda finally got a shower stool. The little victories in life, right? It's the small things that make a big difference. Now she can shave safely lol.
And now, onto baby talk. We've officially started month 8, and the reality of having a little one is sinking in. Week 32 of pregnancy means we're right around the corner from meeting our little man, who's now about 17 inches long. Time is flying!
Now, here's where things get interesting. My mom, sister, niece, and nephew came into town. My niece is 4 1/2, and my nephew is 2. Kids are wild, man. We picked them up at the airport, everything's going smoothly, and then, bam! Alexi decided to showcase his artistic skills on our suede couch with a black pen. Parenthood practice, right?
But it's not all chaos. Mom and sister brought tons of baby clothes for us, so we're set up until our little one hits the two-year mark. That's a relief.
Now, here's where it gets even more interesting. In the "We're Pregnant: The First-Time Dad's Pregnancy Handbook" segment, I'm supposed to start helping Amanda out with some perineal massages... This should be fun lol
And to wrap up, let's test your '90s knowledge with a few questions:
What was the character name of the bad guy in the famous 1991 movie "Silence of the Lambs"?
The 1994 classic "Forrest Gump" was classified as what type of movie?
In the movie "Babe" released in 1995, what animal was featured as the star?
Name this '90s classic starring Arnold Schwarzenegger where he says the famous line: "It’s not a tumor."
Thanks for tuning in, and we'll catch you next time on the Trying 2 Parent Podcast!

What's up ya'll, welcome back to another episode of the Trying 2 Parent Podcast!
It's great to have you all here with us. We've got quite a bit to catch you up on, so let's dive right in.
So, Halloween is right around the corner, and you know how we love our holidays. This will be our last year not going all in on the holidays which we're actually looking forward to getting back into with the little man.
The Arizona Diamondbacks are in the World Series, and it's just crazy to see our home team competing at such a high level. Fingers crossed for a win!
The NBA season has kicked off, and in the first game, the Lakers managed to beat the Suns. Let's go baby
On the home front, Amanda's AC broke, and it's been quite a discomfort. We're hoping for a quick and affordable fix on that one.
In terms of work, we've been working on some exciting projects in our business, so stay tuned for what's to come.
We'll also be taking in our friend's dog for two weeks as they travel back to the states.
We hit the beach today, and despite some high tide, it was a gorgeous day spent with our friends. You can't beat those beach vibes!
And now, baby talk. It's week 30, and things are getting real. Amanda's been listening to birthing stories on Audible. The time is getting closer
We recently had our 29-week check-up, and we got some good news - little man is currently positioned head down. That's a relief!
Amanda put together a little shelf unit she ordered for all the baby clothes. We're slowly getting everything ready for his arrival.
In the "In the News" segment, we got some baby laundry detergent because of their sensitive little skin. Totally makes sense but I didn't know it was a thing ha.
And last but not least, dual classes are coming up, and we need to figure out which package we want to roll with.
In our weekly readi "We're Pregnant: The First-Time Dad's Pregnancy Handbook," we discussed where the baby is at development-wise at Week 30 of the pregnancy. It's amazing how fast this journey is progressing!
Finally, for our "I Love the '90s" segment, test your '90s music knowledge with these questions:
Who sang the 1994 classic song "Regulate"?
Who sang the 1995 classic song "Shook Ones Part 2"?
Who sang the 1997 classic song "Make 'Em Say Uhh"?
Who sang the 1998 classic song "Back That Azz Up"?
That's all for this episode. Thanks for joining us, and we'll catch you next time on the Trying 2 Parent Podcast!

T2P Episode 47: Our Last Trip Before Everything Changes
Monday Oct 23, 2023
Monday Oct 23, 2023
Welcome back to another exciting episode of the Trying 2 Parent Podcast! We're your hosts, Shawn and Amanda King, and we've got a lot to catch you up on.
First things first, we just returned from a fantastic trip to Hartwell, Georgia. We had the most incredible time hanging out with some very successful people in our business. The peaceful and beautiful lake scenery really got us thinking - we need a property on a lake, but maybe not an 11,000-square-foot house (although that would be pretty cool). Oh, and after driving the pontoon boat, we've added "boat" to our wishlist, too. That's a must-have now!
But, let's shift gears to baby talk. The due date is creeping closer, and it's becoming increasingly real. We've got a lot to do to prepare, and at this moment, it feels like if we had to have the baby, we wouldn't know where to begin! Any parenting tips are welcome.
Speaking of preparation, we've been exploring the doula situation. It's been a bit of a rough start finding one, but we're determined to get this right. What are your experiences with doulas, dear listeners? Share your insights with us!
In "We're Pregnant: The First-Time Dad's Pregnancy Handbook," we've reached week 29. Amanda's pregnancy is progressing, and you can actually see our little man moving around in there. It's an incredible sight. The pregnancy line at the grocery store, though? Not so fun.
In the "Highs" of the week, our trip was absolutely awesome. Spending time with people from our agency and learning from some of the best in the company was much needed.
The "Lows" of the week? Well, people requesting coverage these days can be quite the challenge. The quirks of this business, right?
In the "In the News" segment, Amanda discusses pregnancy rhinitis. That's something we never thought we'd have to consider!
And now, for our "Ask the Listeners" segment: We'd love to know if your baby arrived early or fashionably late. Share your experiences with us.
And finally, our "I Love the '90s" segment. Test your '90s knowledge with these questions:
What was the TV show "The X-Files" about?
Name one character from the famous '90s hit "Sex and the City."
How many seasons did the show "Friends" run for?
Name the four main characters from "South Park."
That's a wrap for this episode! Thanks for tuning in, and we'll catch you next time on the Trying 2 Parent Podcast!

T2P Episode 46: That Belly Gettin Big
Monday Oct 09, 2023
Monday Oct 09, 2023
Welcome back, amazing listeners! We're Shawn and Amanda King, your trusty hosts on the Trying 2 Parent Podcast, and we've got another episode packed with updates and adventures from our parenting journey.
We've just returned from our fantastic trip to Naples, Florida. The folks at the Ritz Carlton treated us like royalty, and the trip was nothing short of amazing. Although we did experience a day of relentless rain and an insane thunderstorm, it didn't dampen our spirits.
One of the highlights of the trip was getting to meet and hang out with some fantastic people from our company. It was great to get some questions answered and to connect with the folks we work closely with.
We also had a nice beach day on Thursday, though we couldn't help but feel that our beach back in Mexico is even more beautiful. Nevertheless, Florida has its own unique charm.
But the adventures don't stop there! We're only here for a couple of days before we head out to Georgia for another trip. Life's an exciting whirlwind for us right now.
Now, back to the baby journey. In "We're Pregnant: The First-Time Dad's Pregnancy Handbook," we've reached week 28 which means the third and final trimester has begun. Amanda's pregnancy is progressing, and that belly is really starting to show. However, the pregnancy line at the grocery store has been less than ideal, leading to some not-so-fun experiences. And Nina, our dog, well, we're still not quite sure if she knows about the pregnancy. She certainly doesn't act like it.
In the "Highs" of the week, it was fantastic to go on this trip, get recognized, and connect with the people at our company. However, as much as we love these adventures, I sometimes feel like I can't get as much work done on trips as I'd like, which leaves me feeling a bit behind.
In "In the News," Amanda discusses the positive effects of having animals around a new baby. We all know that furry friends can bring joy and comfort to a household but are there other positive health benefits as well?
And now, let's test your '90s knowledge in our "I Love the '90s" segment:
Can you name two other characters from "Boy Meets World" besides Topanga?
Finish the name of this show: "The Grim Adventures of Billy and …"?
Name one of the three Powerpuff Girls.
What year did the classic movie "Halloweentown" come out?
That's it for today's episode. Thanks for joining us, and we'll catch you next time on the Trying 2 Parent Podcast!

T2P Episode 45: The Final Trimester
Monday Oct 09, 2023
Monday Oct 09, 2023
Hello, hello, lovely listeners, and welcome back to the Trying 2 Parent Podcast! We're your hosts, Shawn and Amanda King, and we're here with all the updates and adventures from our parenting journey.
This week was pretty solid for us. We had some good business coming in, which is always a plus. And speaking of pluses, I've got some exciting news: I haven't gained a single pound of baby weight! Now, that's something to celebrate ha and as far as Amanda goes you still wouldn't know she was pregnant from behind.
Our buddy treated us to another wing session, and he even brought a new baby book for our little man. It's heartwarming to see our friends getting involved in this exciting chapter of our lives.
To relax a bit, we hit the beach with Amanda's friend today, which was a lovely break from the routine. However, I've been having some internet problems lately. Amanda's connection is fine, but mine seems to be playing tricks on me. Tech issues, who do they think I am Bill Gates?
On the parenting front, we're meeting with another potential doula this Tuesday. It's crucial to find the right support for Amanda during this journey.
But, here's the big news! We're jetting off to Naples Florida for a luxurious stay at the Ritz Carlton. It's a much-needed break, and we can't wait to unwind.
In "We're Pregnant: The First-Time Dad's Pregnancy Handbook," we're at week 27 which means it's the last week of the second trimester. We've finally settled on our little man's name, and it's starting to feel even more real. He's been kicking up a storm in there, keeping Amanda on her toes. However, our dog Nina STILL doesn't seem to have a clue that Amanda is pregnant. She's a daddies girl anyways.
In the "Highs" department, it's been a pretty solid week overall. I've been helping a lot of folks with IULs, which is always fulfilling. However, there was a bittersweet moment when I helped a lady get coverage for herself and her kids. She had recently lost her husband, and it's a heartbreaking reminder of the challenges life can throw our way.
Now, in "In the News," Amanda delves into the topic of breastfeeding as a form of birth control. It's a fascinating subject with lots to consider.
And, here's a question for all you parents out there: What educational shows do your kids like watching as they grow up? Some that have been recommended to us include Coco Melon, Bubble Guppies, Blippi, Number Blocks, Bob the Train, and Harry the Bunny. WTF are those?
Before we wrap up, it's time for our "I Love the '90s" segment, where we test your nostalgia knowledge:
Can you name all five characters from the Rugrats?
What type of animal is Arthur from the TV show "Arthur"?
Baloo the bear from "The Jungle Book" starred in a short-lived but great Toon Disney show that only aired for one season. What was it called?
Remember the awesome '90s cartoon about Gargoyles that aired in 1994? What was it called?
That's a wrap for today's episode. Thanks for tuning in, and we'll catch you next time on the Trying 2 Parent Podcast
