What's up guys, welcome back to episode 24 of the Trying 2 Parent Podcast titled "Is Medellin Colombia Our Next Home."
So, in this episode, Amanda and I broke down our rating of 10 different areas that we consider when looking to move to a new country. We gave each area a score out of 10 and the total score we got for Medellin was 55 out of 100.
We talked about the things we loved about Medellin, such as the beauty and street art which both scored a perfect 10. We also enjoyed the food and thought it was a 7 out of 10. However, there were some areas where we didn't score Medellin as high, such as traveling/transportation/traffic which was a 5 out of 10, and the overall vibe which was a 6 out of 10. We also rated it a 0 out of 10 for pollution.
While we had a great time in Medellin, it ultimately didn't end up being our next landing spot. We talk about our high hopes for a few other places and asked our listeners where they would raise their kids if they had to move to another country.
We also talked about overseas parenting and the different trends in parenting over the years. It was interesting to learn about the authoritarian parenting advocated by pediatrician Walter W. Sackett, Jr. who advised parents to feed their babies cereal two days after birth and even encouraged six-month-old children to drink coffee every morning! Can you believe that?
And of course, we had some fun with our "I love the 90s" segment where I ask Amanda trivia questions about 90s pop culture. If you were a kid in the 90s, you'll definitely enjoy this segment.
Last but certainly not least tune in to hear our final discussion about the last episode of the hit show The Parent Test.
As always be sure to call in & leave us a voicemail or a sweet text with some advice or responses to the questions we ask and we'll be sure to play them on the podcast.
